My 94 Explorer trailer harness has no voltage at the 4 or 7 pin connector. All truck lights work. I checked continuity all the way back to the relays. Relays (3) are clicking (working?), input voltage to relays (3) is 12v, but no output from each of the 3 relays. Resistance between pin 85 and 86 is 62 ohms. I have several hours into trouble shouting and have pulled all my hair out.
Do these relays go bad? Ideas? Can I connect directly to lights and by pass the relays?
It's possible for relays to go bad. It is also possible for them to switch, but if you don't have power on the switched side, you won't pass any current through them. You should have 12V at 2 places (on each relay) when the relay is supposed to be energized: you have the turn on circuit, and you have the switched circuit. I wouldn't bypass the relays - they are there to keep the high current from burning up other smaller circuits.
No power on switch side of relay. Found the fuse under the hood was blown. Owners manual referenced 20 amp fuse under dash that was good and did not show the fuse under the hood. I guess I have a down rev on the manual.
