I've got a 2000 EB w/ tan leather. The left side of the driver's seat seems to be losing it's shape and height - I'm now at an angle... if it gets any worse, I'm going to slide right out the door.
Does anyone know of an aftermarket seat bottom? All I really need is the foam (the leather's in good shape), and, of course, the ability to install it without destroying the rest of the seat.
I haven't. Figured like most things that aftermarket would be of equal quality and lesser price. I will check with Ford, but thought it couldn't be that rare to find non OEM...
Try going to a good upholstery shop. It sounds like the foam is losing it's shape and that should be a easy fix. Slip off the leather, reshape or cut new foam, slip the leather back on....voila! I have had seats in classic cars I've owned done this way and it held up very well.
I woud try an uphlstery shop first. Then look for a replacement at a salvage yard. If you have no luck, look for F-150 seats. If you go this route, you will need driver, and pass seats to match, but may cheaper.
I dont think the foam pads are all that expensive unless you have heated seats. Its the leather covers that cost an arm and a leg... usually 300-500 bucks per section.
Sadly, of course, I do have heated seats. Looks like Ford gets my business after all... unless an upholsterer can find a way to use the existing heat coils.
