I am getting a new rearend/axle installed on my truck next week, to try and eliminate my vibrations. Could the torque converter cause this type of vibe:
Between 58-63 in overdrive I get a buzzing harmonic, but when I get on the gas enough to get out of overdrive I get pulsating harmonic vibrations. If I put the tranny in neutral I can feel the buzzing vibration, would this eliminate the torque converter?
your problem sounds like the one I had. I took my 04 lariat 4x4 screw 5.4 in to the dealer because Im getting under 10 miles to the gallon. After it being there for 3 days they told me they thought there was a problem with the torque converter, which would make sense as far as gas mileage goes, but then the next day they said no its not that its the driveshaft. In between 58 and 60 mph there is a vibration. I said well thats great and all you found that but that doesnt help my gas mileage at all. So to make a long story short, I had to take the truck home for a week to wait for a new driveshaft to come in and during that time I did notice the vibration ( I never noticed it before) and when I got the truck back the vibration was gone. Now if I could just get this mileage thing fixed!
