hey
i got a 63 ranchero with a 65 289 outta of an ol mustang...i have just ordered a timing chain set...but have never installed 1..any w here know the procedure ? haha.....

The hardest part is removing the harmonic balancer. Timing cover is an easy removal, as is the chain and gears. Install the 3 as a set. Install new timing gear, rotate to where mark on gear is closest to crank. Install new gear on crank, rotate to where mark on gear is closest to cam. Slip cam gear off cam , install chain over crank gear, insert cam gear into chain, and move chain and gear to where cam gear will slip back onto the cam, with marks still lined up to each other. Install cam gear bolt (s) and torque to cam. Install new gasket, seal on timing cover. Install harmonic balancer.....well you get the picture. Be sure and VERIFY that marks on cam gear and crank gear are lined up opposite each other.
