My definition of a "Big Truck" (Since people asked)
A big truck to me is a full sized pickup truck, preferably with a lift or two done on it and muddin' tires but not necessarily. you can usually tell if you have one because your girlfriend is scared to drive it.
If you meet a girl that ISN'T scared to drive it, you should immediately ELOPE with the Lady. Either Nevada or Tiajuana can be useful for this purpose...
Beyond pickups we enter the world of "Wheelers" and "RIGS!"
6-Wheelers, and 10 Wheelers are another world - halfway between big trucks and "RIGS". A Dually is usually thought of as a VERY TOUGH PICKUP truck, but 5 ton trucks are the beginning of the commercial end of things.
An over the road RIG is a whole 'nuther animal. I have never driven one, although I have ridden in them before. (NOTE: There is "BIG TRUCK", and "BIG RIG" in this definition)
But to me - a Ranger II, a NISSAN (I usually replace the first "N" with a letter "P"), Datsun, Chevy LUV, S-10, and all of the rest of the down-sized trucks are not even trucks to my way of thinking...
IF A GOLF CART had an extended bed - it would look to me like a (QUOTE) "Mid-Sized" (unquote) truck...
Nope, a big truck is a pain to find a parking place for. Takes some extra care to manuever in a parking garage (if it's even an option!), allows you to see right over the top of the car in front of you, and if it ever gets dented by a negligent car driver - will usually result in a totalled car.
A big truck has a LOT of carrying space, and you won't have to worry if roads flood a little. Snow won't stop it, mud splashes make it look better, and most thieves don't have the guts to risk the ire of a truck owner enough to go after the radio(S) in it (if they can reach that high).
A big truck makes a statement: "The owner of this machine does not mess around. He/She knows what life is about, how to deal with it effectively, carries Her/His own load, and can do a lot more than you ever thought you could (Especially if you mess with this truck!)"
A big truck means "I will NOT settle for less and I WILL get what I go after". And it is a heck of a symbol of self-sufficiency...
Which is also spelled: I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-A-N-C-E.
A big truck means: "I want it all, and I want it RIGHT now..."
A big truck means you chose to "Live the life..."
(I hope this made sense to Y'all)

My definition of a BIG TRUCK is a little diferent than yours seeing as I drive what you call a rig. My "rig" as you call it is a 379 Pete with a 3406-600hp cat in it. A big truck is a truck that goes as fast as it CAN. A large car is a truck that goes as fast as it WANTS. LONG LIVE LARGE CARS

>How about this addition?
>
>A big truck is where you have to climb into the engine bay
>to change sparkplugs.
Some here would argue that real trucks don't have spark plugs. I wouldn't be one. But look out for those are. (BigD, PS'r250 etc. etc.) You just set yourself up for a friendly bashin'!

You know you have a big truck when:
People pull over to let you go by ,for fear they will become part of the road.
People stare UP at you.
When your g-friend or wife gets out and you keep walking circles around the truck, because you can't see her, I find it's easier to look under and watch wich way she goes.
When you come out of a parts store and people ask you a hundred questions about your truck.
When you go to one of those charity car washes and only half your truck gets washed because they couldn't reach the rest.
(The down side of this is when the girls are in bikinies, and they can't reach your windsheild)
Just a few examples for now

I have to throw in my 2 cents here.
Big trucks have more than 1 step.
Big trucks carry sparkplugs!
Big trucks have 22.5"rims
Big trucks have at least 9 speeds and more (all the way to 18)
Big trucks have extended cabs for sleeping!!
Big trucks go 500,000 without a major engine problem
Large Cars have real big hoods
Large Cars have real big rubber, 24.5
Large Cars have real big motors
Large Cars have a real big price
Just my 2 cents for a dumb old truck driver.
