Hi 14u2nv, I actually talked to the muffler shop today and asked them the same question. The owner recommended that I install a spin tech muffler instead of the flowmaster that I was going to get. He said that it wasn't going to be as loud but the amount of horsepower gain would be noticable. Plus it is going to be about $300 cheaper that the flowmaster. I am having it installed this week or the next. I will let you know as soon as it is done.

How the hell is that? Flowmaster is cheap as is, normally around 180-250 for a full install.

I was thinking the same thing!

A friend of mine got a flowmaster 50 series installed on his '02 F150 last year here at a local muffler shop for under $200!

I should have been more specific. The flowmaster that I was considering was the american thunder cat back dual side exit P/N #17394FLO that retails for about $439 plus shipping. To have the spin tech installed with a custom built dual side exit is going to cost me about $200. The actual mufflers are about the same retail price. Sorry for the confusion.

From what I have read from their website, the Banks Monster Exhaust provides a good improvement in power. However I haven't heard any testimonials on the product.

I have magnaflow in mind, they claim that if you get the right set up their noise level is barely above stock.

when i get my truck i will either go with magnaflow or dynomax ultraflo mufflers. Keep in mind that a chambered muffler like the flowmasters drone. The magnaflow and ultraflo mufflers are a straight through design that almost eliminates the drone, less interior noise, great performance gains, with a nice tone.

If you buy the FlowMaster kit direct from Flowmaster, pre-built and pipes bent, its ALOT more expensive than just going to muffler shops and having them fab up a set of pipes. One disadvantage is that MOST muffler shops do not do mandrel bent pipes, so some restriction is still in the pipes

The Gibson systems are almost too quite, but are supposed to provide good power. I'm running a single pipe system on my screw and have been pleased with it. If you want power and not the noise, I'd look at Gibson...

14u2nv, Had the spintech muffler installed today and vey pleased with it. I noticed a litttle difference in acceleration which I was not expecting. The cabs on these new F150 are so quiet I can only hear the exhaust at certain rpm,s and it is not loud at all. As soon as I get a chance to tow the boat with it installe i will let you know if I can notice a difference. I need all the help I can get pushing 35's. Thae HYPERTECH programmer shoul be on the market next month. That is also something to look at for getting everything you can out of the motor.

Magna Flow

I just had the Magna Flow exhaust installed on my FX-4. It gives noticable pep in the power. You can hardly hear the exhaust noise from inside the cab. On the outside there is a slight purr that sounds strong but mellow. I am impressed overall and would recommend it to anyone that doesnt want the loud rumble of the flowmaster. I payed $225 installed.
