Van Engine? What should I get?
Well I was wondering if the 4.6L engine in the lets say 1998 van similar to a mustang engine? Also is the 5.4L engine similar or the same offered in the F-150?

The 5.4 in the van and F-150 will be tuned very similarly.
The 4.6 in the van is tuned very differently than the Mustang 4.6.
Different cams; intake manifold; exhaust; computer...
Auto trans is of the same design on the 4.6 models.

For a truck application like a van, Mustang parts would bear no real world assistance.
The 4.6 is a very rev happy engine even when tuned for trucks.
The 5.4 is a preferred choice for trucks.
