Hey guys! I would like to comment about the site first, excellent site! Very informative. I have a question on about the idle. It seems to idle at about 1000 to 1050 rpms. Is this normal? And also when I play around with the kids and tap on the brake peddle to the beat of thier music (of course at a stop light) the truck will lunge. Is this typical? It's a V 10.
Thanks
Yeah! I heard that from my wife a thousand times too. But some of us guys are still a kid at heart. Always playing around. Any time I can spend with the kids and make them laugh is worth it though. But you are right
I have the v-10 and my idle is around 750 to 800. Which I though was a little high. But I came from having the 4.6 that idled around 600 to 750. I have noticed that this truck is ready to pull out as soon as your off the brake. I can only guess it would be worse at the higher RPM. If yours is over 50K I would sujest cleaning the throttle body.
I'm not a mechanic, just speaking from experiance.
It has about 55K. Hmmmm. Never thought of that. I'll throw some cleaner in it. It can only help. I was thinking that it might be a vacum problem. So I'm going to do the either test on it this weekend. It's an awsome truck though, with minor things that need to be addressed. Thanks for the reply
Yup The Tipical Idle Is About 800 Or So. I Asked The Dealer And He Said Thats Correct That The V10's Do Idle Higher Than The V8's. As Far As The Lunging Problem, Yeah The Higher Idle Would Do That. What Is The Idle In Drive, Mine Is About 650-700 Or So.
