Well, the batteries were toast, so I bought new ones, figured I'd need them sooner or later. TRUCK STILL WON'T START! I show rpms when cranking, so I unpluged the cam sensor, no rpms, pluged it back in, rpms....I have a remote start so it's my ghost cranker at the moment. I activated it and pushed the little tire looking valve on the fuel filter, got diesel all over the place, so it puts out press. when cranking....now what? I'm ready to set it afire. Checked all battery leads, both in good contact with block, fuel bowl fills about half way up is all though, I drain it, turn on the key and it doesn't fill, but when it crank it it fills but only about half way...is my problem somewhere before the fuel bowl? Tried both tanks (thinking maybe one pump was bad) same results..........next? Oh, had a spare relay so I changed the #2 (fuel) relay under the hood, all fuses are still good...what about the fuel pump shut off switch, I was reading in the owners manual about one, but I can't find it, could that have possibly tripped?
Oh, checked hpop plug, full of oil. Just remembered, when I got the oil changed the guys suggested an additive to help clean the valves and what not since i've got 190K on the truck...could this affect anything? It did quit just after the oil change....

You need to concentrate on the fuel not filling up in the filter. It needs to FILL up to generate enough pressure to be delivered to the cylender heads and injectors.

how full is full? With some extended cranking today it filled up enough that when I put the filter back in it overflowed out of the bowl...just got a cam sensor from intl. glad those guys are open until 1am! I'll put it in early to beat this Oklamoha heat and we'll see what that does...if that's not it anyone interested in a once installed cam sensor? It took the lunch money for next week....
