Last year a bad storm rolled in and lighning struck a telephone pole right by the house and literally blew the telephone off the wall. The next morning we saw that the pole had been split right down the middle.

Nearly got it at a golf course in Sugar Land last year. We had enough sense to quit playing and were loitering around one of the halfway shacks when lightning struck a tall tree across the cart path from us. I was probably about 20' from the tree. A couple guys in the group had to go clean their drawers after that.

A week earlier I was working outside my house when lightning struck really close to me...I guess it hit the house. My wife came running out screaming at me to get in at that instant. I don't know what scared me more, the lightning or my wife yelling.

when i was like 11 or 12 we had just moved to n. idaho in our new house from oregon and lightning hit the back yard about 10 ft from the door that i was opening to go outside to watch the storm. it knocked me back about 4 feet and blinded me from the falsh for about a minute till i got most my sight back. after i knew i was ok my dad and mom both laughed cuz of the way i flew.

another time my dad was workin on the car and he tossed a wrench out from under the car cuz he was ready to get out from under neath it and it slid down the driveway a few more feet and it got zapped that was loud my dad had to go get his head all bandaged up from hitting his head on the frame so hard

One of my friends at work got struck on our local golf couse putting on the #9 hole. In through his putter, up his arms and out through his forehead. To this day the man is a vegetable, and his wife loves him too much to pull the plug on him... Remember to be careful around this stuff.

I was out on the porch playing ping-pong. The flash and bang were at the same time so i knew it had to be close. Well the next morning i came outside and saw the tree leaning right over where i was standing had a zig-zag line running down the side where the bark had been blown off. I was about 4-5 feet away.

One of my dad's dumptruck drivers put the bed up into a power line. It zapped him pretty good and put a few thousand people in the dark for a few hours. It blew holes in every tire on the truck.

When I was a little kid (second ice age) I was playing indoors while it was storming outside. My mom was ironing. Lightning struck our doorbell, traveled through the walls and ran down the cord to the iron - blew the bottom of the iron clear out, but didn't hurt my mom. (The doorbell never worked after that.)

Many years later, after cars had been invented, I was driving up Highway 63 during a storm, when I saw something out of the side of my eye. It was a large, red, glowing ball, traveling parallel to me (about 100 yards or so away). It was sort of bouncing along, lightly touching the pasture grass every 30 or 40 yards. I was going about 60, and this ball passed me and eventually disappeared out of sight about a half a mile ahead of me.

What you saw was a plasma ball... Never heard of one from a lighning strike, but large, industrial type electrical breakers will throw them when you screw something up. They are quite a sight, aren't they?
