Ford Buybacks
Hello Everyone,
I sure miss the forum, but I don't miss my 03 Expy. I am looking for a car for my son so I used CarFax and since it was paid for I also ran the VIN of my 03 Expy through and believe it or not it came up clear. Ford told me the title would show it was a Lemon. So I guess I just saying buyer beware when purchasing a used low mileage vehicle. I'm sure it would be updated by now since this happened in January.
I've been looking at some older Expy's so I may be back.

I guess it would depend on whether Ford offered it up for sale again or turned it in to a school for a tear down vehicle or something. Maybe they just havent had it registered as a Lemon as of yet.
We had a Focus that was bought back because 3 times the airbag clock spring fried on it. Each time it was repaired by the same technician. After the third time the owner demanded a buy back and Ford complied. But before they declared it a loss, they asked me to try to find the problem and save it. Well within an hour I had the clock spring replaced and the fault repaired. The original tech had each time snapped the airbag module onto its metal studs right on top of the cruise control switch and horn wiring creating a dead short. I was able to repair it easiily by replacing the wiring and rerouting it properly. It was totally technician error by the prior tech working on it.
That vehicle was immediately avaliable for sale without classification as a lemon as a result. The problem never returned.

last week I got a tab renewal notice from the state for my 03 which Ford bought back via the lemon law. I called the state and let them know that the vehicle had been repurchased, they were very interested in the details because Ford should have notified them.
