Mig Welder

Hi all,

quick question here, would a 2.4 KVA petrol generator have enough power to run a mig welder on low settings to weld say 18-20 gauge mild steel? - Thanks

Most 120 volt mig welders require a dedicated 20 amp service, as long as the generator is capable of that you should be good to go. You might have problems if the input voltage fluctuated at all, it would affect the output voltage, arc, amps like changing the settings.

If it is a 240 volt, then you really need to check the required amperage of the welder.
