'02 Excursion head light problem
Hi, we just bought this '02 Excursion and found that the headlights don't seem right. When the lights are turned on, the high beam indicator is always on, regardless of what I do with the dimmer switch on the steering column. Also the lights seem way to dim. There are a couple of bright curved lines that show up on the pavement in front of the truck, filled in dimly between and around the lines. But no nice strong beam of light.
I like to try to fix things myself before running to the dealer. Any suggestions?

It might be the infamous FORD light sockets. I'm not kidding the light sockets, especially on the passenger side get what looks like battery acid corrosion and need to be replaced. I would check that out after checking the two bulbs. I had to replace the passenger side socket assembly due to corrosion.

Problem solved! It seems the previous owner had installed some aftermarket headlight bulbs that were junk. They didn't fit in the sockets well, they were just kind of rattling around in there. New correct headlight bulbs cured it and also made the high beam indicator work right.
