Got a Shortbed!!!
Well i was looking for a bed for my 79 longbed ford that i have, and i stumbled across a 75 shortbed with a good bed. All this truck needed was some interior peices and a right front finder. The bed had a little hole in it but it can easlily be fixed. Well so i said what the hell... im going to get it. So i asked him how much he wanted for it, and the guy said, "75 bucks". i said alright ill be back. This truck came with a motor and tranny. The motor is a 400m with a C4 tranny. The motor also runs!! it was just rebuilt in 99 and they never got it to start, and thats why they parked it.(the guys that had it.) Cuz i got home and pulled the dip stick out and hoping to find some nasty black oil... i found fresh oil all the way to the rim... So i said im going to put wires and a battery on it and see what happens. Sure enough the thing spun over, and about 2 hours jaking with it she finally cranked! so i got a good shortbed and a good motor for 75 bucks. Im happy.. The motor is a "'400", no "M".
That motor mates with a C6, not a C4.
Sounds like you've got a great start!
What are you doing with the old truck?
Stripping it?
What motor does it have?

well my dad said that it was the 400 m... so thats what i said. Yeah it is a C4 though...it has the big bellhousing. But i m striping it down right now as we speak, im converting it to a 79 with the square headlights. I love the way those look. Im shaving all the molding. Im going to mold door flaps on it... using the ones from my old bed... im also going to be lowering it 3/5... Im taking to 400 out and putting in my 460 and my C6 that i have in my other truck... Then i will be painting the truck white with ghost flames... And interior wize, im stripping it all out and putting in a white dash... and im going with tweed on in the interior...(dont know yet what colors) also i will have a pionier cd player.. with 2 rockford 12's behind the seat and a rockford 500 watt amp for now... And i have alot more... lol but thats just the idea i have for it...
