bellhousing question

ok i have a 71 f100 with a 302 with a 4 speed manual shift.i cant drive itno further than about a block because my clutch adjustement rod comes off because my clutch fork moves. and the only thing i can find wrong is the part of the bellhousing where the clutchfork clip goes . the top rivet that holds that piece to the bellhousing broke off.. now i was thinking that i could just drill it out and put a nut and bolt in it. just wanting to get some of you guys .02 see if it was a really bad idea or if it will work. i think that if i go with a thin headed bolt then it should fix it. thanks in advance for all your help

I have the exact same problem. I was having a hard time shifting, so I went to adjust the clutch and the whole adjusting rod and fork came apart.

Got to looking at it and noticed the rivet on top was missing and the one on the bottom is loose. I bent the tang on the back of the fork to create pressure on the little bridge to keep it in place.

Its been about six weeks and I am still driving it. I have been meaning to have it welded or something. It would be afull hard to drill because of the angle?

You can drill it out on the truck and put in 5/16 allen head bolts. The next time you have the bellhousing out, replace with 3/8 ones. You will need a die grinder to enlarge the holes in the pivot because it is hardened.
