Does ford have a UNIVERSAL code for these, as mine may have been used to steal my truck? No broken glass, maybe a slimjim but they burned the truck after stripping it, so I cant tell. Just trying to find better security.
ive heard of universal keys, i was watching i think techtv and they said u could buy universal car keys for the that year model and make, they tested it and it worked on every type of car in that parking lot
The keychain remote for my '03 Explorer sport-trac was able to lock, unlock, and activate the horn on another explorer that was parked close to me. Should this even be possible or is it a screw up from ford? im sure that there isnt a very wide range of frequencies that they can use but i find that strange.

it is very possible as the keychain remotes operate on the same FCC frequency....thats right they all do....the diffrence is the programming cycle....some have rotating cycles that change the frequency that the car accepts from the keychain you own....you can unhook your battery for an amount of time and reprogram your remotes yourself.....this is for our Honda CRV but check with Ford about it it may be diffrent but with the Honda you had to turn the key to the acc position I then to II then within 5 sec hit the lock button then turn it back to I then back to II and hit lock...etc till it locked then again hit the lock button and its set....check with ford but like was said before the best thing is prevention....when i go away on business i remove the fuse for the fuel pump and the ign. so it wouldnt work if you HAD the key
yes Taking fuses out is a good idea, I used to unhook the ignition coil on a car that i had, and another good way is to make a hidden switch for your fuel pump, or a switch for the positive starter wire, Although i would only do this on an old vehicle, No one ever wants to steal my Aerostar Anyway I even have left the keys in the ignition while shopping... Hmm i dunno guess thieves hate em?
But if they ever do Thats what theft insurance is for!!! LoL
glad i could help....heres what you do now....some crooks are clever and would actually look so put a blown fuse in its spot....if you dont have one make one by hookin a positive to one side and neg to the other itll pop quickly and then you have the dummy fuse.
