radio interchangeability
Hi. I just bought a 92 Explorer with a AM/FM Ford factory stereo radio and four factory speakers. I want to replace it with a Ford factory AM/FM Stereo Cassette. Can someone tell me which Ford vehicle models and years will interchange with mine? I don't have the Premium sound package and don't really need it. Also, I'm mostly concerned about the dimensions because I can figure out the wiring. Thanks.

I have two vehicles with the factor stereo cassette in them, an 88 F150, and a 92 Mustang GT. I also have a 91 Explorer which has a Sony stereo CD. I can measure the two Ford systems over the weekend, if you don't get the info before.
But, if I were replacing the radio with a purchased unit, I would buy a pioneer or sony or other favorite brand. You can get mounting kits from Crutchfield for them.
