I didn't realize they had full time 4WD back then? Are you sure? Are the manual hubs stuck in the "lock" position? Is the 4WD shifter stuck in 4 low or 4high? Just thought I'd ask.
does your truck have a xfer xase with a shifter? if not swap the xfercase to one that can be shifted from 2wd to 4wd. You might be able to change the hub from a locked hub to manual hubs. haynes manuall doesn't say much. Check Projectbronco.com. The site ids dedicated to 78-79 bronco's. someone there may know about changing to manual hubs.
