91 explorer overheating

91 explorer overheating

Got a 91 explorer whose temp guage consistently stays just shy of the red line. I've got plenty of antifreeze in it and the water pump appears to be ok. Any ideas what else i should look for?

I'd start with thermostat or a dirty/clogged radiator (inside and outside).

You might also check your temp gauge there is no guaruntee that it is honest.
