Bought a van where the odometer reads "E 03" and the speedometer pegs out when engine starts (4.9l)but doesn't move after that. This van had an AOD in it originally( from the O/D button and two D positions on the shifter) but now has a C6. Could there be a wiring issue with the tranny being switched or is the speedo shot? Don't know much of the history of this frankenstein. Thanks
I think in 92 all Fords still had a vehicle speed sensor plugged into the side of the trans & a speedo cable plugged into the speed sensor. Is this how yours is? Does the cruise control work?
No cruise control and no speedo cable into the tail housing on the c6. Was there a different control hookup on the AOD that made them scrap the idea of hooking one up on this tranny? I'm unfamiliar with the AOD.
Maybe that E O3 is a code for a bad vehicle speed sensor? If this was mine i'd take a couple of minutes to pull the trouble codes & see if that gave me any clues. If it had cruise control & it also wasnt working I would definetly think it was a bad vehicle speed sensor. Or maybe when the C-6 was put in no one bothered with getting the speedo to work & it needs to be swapped to a speedo that will wrk with a C-6?
Hopefully one of the other guys will have more info for you.

This sounds like the most logical senario. The c6 is one of the best trannies Ford ever made for heavy duty work, but it's an older tranny and is probably lacking in the sensor hook-up of the late model trannies.
