I bought a new f 150 (2004) crew cab fsx4. The ride on this truck feels stiff to me ....like feeling every little bump in the road. I have the cloth seats which are also a bit stiff compared to what I'm used to (I was previously in a chevy with nice plush leather seats.) The dealer says bring it in and they will play with gas in the shocks (let some out?)
Anyone out there have any ideas to soften up this ride?
When I was test driving, we started out with a FX as well. My wife did not like it. Too rough. To me it felt just like a super duty. But hey, thats what a stiffer suspension does. The FX is set for sport off roading.
Go drive a XLT or Lariat. It will ride MUCH better.

I would really like to be there when the dealer plays with the gas in the shocks. That's not to mention watching them let out some gas......
Obviously, the shocks are not adjustable. Even if they were, the F-150 is designed to have a firm ride. It is impossible to design a truck that has a healthy payload and good towing capacity that rides like a cruiser when unloaded. In my opinion, my '04 FX4 rides great. It's firm but not abusive on rough roads (although the bed does shake like everyone elses) and plenty comfortable on smooth surfaces.
