I've spen the last few years combining 2 trucks and rebuilding and upgrading parts to make a big boat puller, with some character.
I'm getting close to completion, and I may have found my boat. It's big, 33 footer with twin big-blocks. We figure it's close to 9400lbs on the trailer.
My project truck is a 69 F250 Camper Special chassis, with the big disc brakes up front. All braking and suspension system have been rebuilt. The C6 was rebuilt with towing and handling a large amount of power in mind. The motor is a 428 Stroker that makes lots of power and at a low RPM. It put over 400 lb-ft of torque to the ground from 2400-4800 RPM. I'm running a Dana 60 rear with 4.10 gears and a detroit soft locker. I have frame mounted class III/IV hitch. The cooling system is a new 4 core heavy duty radiator and the big dual flex-a-lite electric fan, model 295. I've rear mounted the tranny cooler, and installed a motorcycle radiator fan to help keep it cool.
The boat trailer would be a tri-axle aluminum with surge brakes.
Nah, sounds like you've put some real thought and effort into it. Good luck with it! I would have done it on a 4wd chassis and used a granny gear 4speed instead, but since you have the 4.10's and locker in the rear, you should be ok with some good wet traction tires.
A man that can afford a 33ft boat and a 428 under the hood pulling 4.10s can surely buy the gas that monster will drink.
That setup would pull a 66ft boat.

I think the boat will look like I have a lot more invested than I will! At least that is the hope. It's a 1987 boat, but the hull design is one of my favorites and very timeless. As for the gas, that's not my biggest concern. My concern is sliding through a busy intersection because I couldn't stop!
anybody setup a tranny temp monitor for a C6? What temp should the coolant be running at?
get disc brakes for the rear, it will help stopping alot and reduce the amount of brake fade.
I'd liek to, but I just rebuilt the Dana 60 drums. So, I'd like to make them work for a while. Hopefully, the trailer brakes are doing most of the work.
