Steering noise

I have a 92 f-150 and It is making a whining rubbing noise that seems to generate from behind the steering wheel. I was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem before? If so i was wonder what it was and if i could just lubricate it easily.

i had this on my truck a while ago. Turns out I had a small leak, and I was out of sterring fluid, check your fluid, and if it's good, you might want to check out your power sterring pump. When mine went bad, it was making a similar noise

Well my pump has the typical "Im on my way out" noise but its not gone yet. The noise im talking about seems to be up in the cab behind in the column somwhere like the steering wheel is rubbing in a certain spot.

Mine does this too some times. Sounds like something is rubbing inside the steering column when you turn the wheel. Now my turn signals have gone bazirke, so i am guessing its the thrun signal cam.

I almost suspected the steering wheel was rubbing the top of the column.

I have a 96 with tilt steering and I have the same problem. It sound almost like a broken spring is rubbing on the back side. I plan to remove the wheel and find out for us soon.
