Starter and relay
Installed new starter (don't cha hate that top bolt). NOTE: I also might have problems with the relay (see below). The truck starts but I heard this aweful sound.. the starter gear banging against the flywheel gear (my guess)- I immediatley shut it off and freaked. Wrong starter from Kragan?? But REALLY how many different starters would fit on a 360? It bolts right up, nice and snug, no prob. Could just be a crappy one.
OR is the starter relay sticking in the start mode. I didn't recall hearing the starter running during the brief seconds before I shut the engine off.
Insights??
The long-winded part

A bit of background...
Got some bad fuel out here in California, probably Enron's fault (I know.. I'm mixing metaphors, it's just a joke). Truck wouldn't start. (same thing happened to my '70 BMW). Had to drain the tank, refill, and work the old gas out of the system. In the interim the starter gave out. Got the new one installed. While dry-cranking... the starter stuck on. Had to yank the battery cable to shut it down. Checked the ignition switch. Does not appear to be there. Removed the relay and bench tested (only a year old)- comparing its actions to an old one I had. Put the relay (newer) back on. No more starter on. WEIRD. No shorted wires. Everything seems normal. Then the above happened. The gremlin may lie in the relay or ignition switch. Any troubleshooting tips? Thanks
