Window motor trouble

I have an intermitten glitch with the passenger side window. It began to not work with either window switch. I removed the door panel and a tap on the motor got it working again. I bought the truck used in 1999 and only drive it when I need truck duty. I have only put 15,000 miles on it since then and it sits alot. Recently for over a year while I was oversease. I wouldn't think the motor was wore out. Is it possible to have some corrosion on the armature/brush end of the motor from lack of use? Maybe just run the window up and down several times to clean it off? Is it possible to disasemble clean and reassemble the motor? Or just replace it?

Yes, you can take it apart and clean it, ive done it before. Make sure that your gear is ok also, had one that did that and ended up being a cracked gear. One caution when taking the motor apart, there is only one way putting it back together, had brush popping out and i finally figured it out. Not to hard though. Good luck
