Ditched my Rancho's !!!!!

Well guys I ditched my Rancho's for Monroe Sensa-Tracs. and boy does the Bronco ever ride better. Got tired of the bang and crack when you hit an overpass at 70MPH. They were only a year old but boy did they get stiff with age! Has anyone else had similiar experience. My truck is stock and most of my driving is highway, around town and logging roads, just your basic all around vehicle here.

Did you have the RS5000's? I put those on my '85 Bronco and thought they were WAY too stiff also. Off road they were OK, but on the road I felt like I was in a tank.

I haven't had a problem with any of my Ranchos, although they do ride a bit stiffer on the road. Maybe you just didn't care for the ride? I haven't ever heard of them getting stiffer with age.

Im happy with my RS9000X's on the rear of the F350 and am very happy with the Bilsteins I put on the front of it. I haven't tried Sensatracs. I did have a 6" lifted 3/4ton Chevy solid front axle truck with Rancho 5000's that rode very stiff but I attributed that more to the extremely thick front leaf springs than the shocks. I never ran that truck with any other kind of shock though so it's possible the Ranchos contributed to the jarring ride. I do know that the KYB Gas-A-Just shocks on the Bronco and one of my old baja Bugs are rather stiff riding and am planning to change to Bilsteins at some point in the future.

Yeah getting stiffer just doesn't make sense to me. I've noticed a rougher ride w/ completely worn out shocks, but they sure weren't stiffer when I took them off. I give your Sense a tracs ~25K before they are worn out

Yes Mrwizard they were Rs5000's, when I took the original factory shocks off they were completely worn out, the Rancho's made the ride much firmer. Maybe I am just getting old....LOL. What is funny is after taking the Rancho's off I could manipulate
them without much trouble, unlike when i put them on. Oh and a word of warning about the pratty red boots they give you. If you live in a wet climate like I do [western Wa.] they are a bad idea, despite the drain holes they retain a lot of moisture, there was a lot of rust on the ram and body. Anyway I am likeing the new ride, stiffer than stock but not as stiff as the RS5000's......like I said...I must be getting old.

Funny that this should appear today. I just got threw taking off the skyjacker "soft ride" shocks and put on some rancho 5000's. When I took the skyjackers of I thought I made a mistake because they felt good, not like they were soft or anything. Infact, the rancho's compressed easier by hand then the skyjackers did. But I decided to install them anyway. After I was done I went for a ride. What a world of difference. A lot nicer ride. It returns a lot faster smooths out the bumps better, I'm happy.

I guess one thing I learned is that you can't tell the condition of the shocks by how they feel in hand.

I installed rancho rsx shocks on my 95 f150 4x4 about a month ago and I think they're broke in now, they was a little bouncy at first but they've really smoothed out I've read it takes about 700-800 miles to break them in. I'm very pleased with them, I tend to like a little stiffer shock especially on a 4wd truck imo.
