Not looking for info on removing the actual mounts but the rubber cab mounts/radiator mount. I've torched off all the bolts on my '75 F250 and can't get these old worn out mounts to come off. I'm about ready to take the sawzall to them and fix 'em for good
So I was just wondering if there was a trick to removing them.
quite honestly I have used the sawzall on mine several differnt times, once they have been in there almost 30yrs they are pretty much rusted together, the only other trick I have used is a angle grinder and grind the top washer off if you can get to it then shove or drive the rubber, and center piece through the mount hole.
Ihave tried soaking them with wd40, air hammers/chisels, heat, and have never been able to get them to come apart and end up cutting them or grinding them, hopefully someone else will give a better answer, and we can both learn something, but in the absence of that I'll give you mine
I'm putting a '67 shortbox body on my '75 chasis and am going to need to get new rubber bushings. Anyone know of a cheap place to get these? Maybe I should just put a body lift on......
you cant beat energy suspension's bushings. It makes a world of difference IMHO. An entire set inc Radius arm, tie rod, leaf spring and other odd and end bushings ran me about $130 plus they are Bight Red to match my truck. The also come if like 5 other colors. Check them out they might sell just the body mount bushings
you could also try hyperflex and some of the sponsored sites
I'm not familiar with body lifts at all, and it might help with some clearance issues between the 2 different year trucks.
Do they replace the factory rubber mounts completely? If so they cost like $60 and that would make more sense to me, as I already have all new bushings for my suspension/steering......
no, you still need the body mounts. if you dont use them it will be one seriouly rough and unsafe ride. I would highly recomend using high quality body mounts if you choose to use a body lift. You will regret it if you dont....experience talking.
Can someone post pics of a body lift on an older ford for me if you have them? Do you need to use the bottom rubber mount, and remove the top one? Or how does it work....I doubt you are supposed to stack them.
i dont have pictures right now, but you use the body mount on the frame and the body lift block sits directly underneat the cab. In my aplication there is nothing between the lift block and the cab.
