FAQ's, A request for topics and info

Ok, everyone,

With the blessings of the forum moderator I am attempting to compile a list of FAQ's (frequently asked questions).

We have all answered the questions before...What hardware holds the top on? Are auto hubs reliable? Is rust in the wheel arches and tailgate a common problem?

What I am working on now is compiling a list of just such questions and the standard CORRECT asnswers. So, I come to you my fellow FTE, specifically Big Bronco Enthusiasts, for input. I am looking for common questions and their correct answers no matter how detailed. If you have a link to another page or thread that provides a detailed answer, please send it right along. I would perform this task alone but I figure together we can compile the information much faster.

I will be compiling and formatting the information for permanent residence right here in this forum. So, the new users have an easy reference and for those of us with really bad short term memories (ME) can double check it. I'm certain you all have seen an answered many of these questions that seem to crop up every few days, months etc. I know what most of them are myself. If we can put these common ones together in one place with reasonably detailed and correct answers, we can help reduce the number of reiterated answers as well.

Thanks in advance for your input and assistance with this project.

Greystreak,
How will this thing work? Like an archive or a giant alphabetical list? I think its a great idea.

The intent is not to go "hog wild" on it at this point. Just get the most common questions answered. So for the time being it will be a list. I am thinking sorted by catagory for now. I am currently scouring the forum for answers and informative links on common subjects. My goal is to get the most common answers and/or links to them together in one location. If the question can be answered briefly, a short accurate answer will be listed along with any links relavent to the question. I know many of the users here have very informative sites of their own. It is my goal to use links to these sites and other articles found both here and elsewhere to reduce the number or redundant questions in the forum.

I would put something about manuel hubs in there. There are two major posts with good replys currenty, and at least once a week someone asks about converting automagic hubs to manual. Just my 2 cents. Great idea doing this.

Isky, thats exactly the kind of thing I'm going for.

Ok, folks this may help. The following is a list of sub-headings I have started with based on the info I have gathered thus far. If anyone can think of a common question that would fall under one of these sub-headings let me know and certainly include any relevant links, documents, threads, etc. If anyone thinks tof another sub-heading go for it. I am simply trying to compile info at this point.

Brakes, steering, alignment:

Body and tailgate:

Drivetrain, hubs, gears, etc.:

Electrical:

Engine, transmission, transfer case:

Exhaust, intake, general performance:

Tires, lifts, suspension:

Top:

I realize some questions may have answers that cross sub-headings. I will address that when the time comes. All opinions and suggestions are more than welcome. This is for us and those who come here for this information. Might as well do it up right.

Good project!!!! Without going "hog wild", I'm thinking (for subcategories).....

Brakes, steering, alignment:

Ball joint replacement

Body, tailgate, [and glass]:

Pillar cracks - what are they? How are they caused? How are they repaired?

Quarter panel replacement

Tailgate replacement

Rear Window Motor Replacement

Drivetrain, hubs, gears, etc.:

Hub conversion (auto to manual, as previously noted).

Fixing the driveshaft "clunk" (by greasing the slip joint splines).

Manual Tranny identification

Electrical:

Idiot lights and gauges versus real gauges (differences, conversions, etc.)

Engine, transmission, transfer case:

Power / mileage upgrades

exhaust, intake, general performance:

Installing true dual exhausts, legal issues, etc.

Header quality comparison

Tires, lifts, suspension:

Various opinions / experiences with different types and sizes of tires, clearances, etc.

Top:

Refinishing

Removing (and legal issues revolving around the third brake light and seat belt attachment points).

Maybe also add an "Interior" section.

Just a few thoughts. Hope this helps!

Maybe something about how you can fit 33" tires with no lift.

Also, maybe a link on how to retro fit a 3G alt. into 2G fitted bronco.

Also, the only engines available in the broncos was the 300I6, 302v8, and 351w v8.
Well, also, from 78-82, 351M, or 400

Maybe a link on how to trouble shoot, and replace tailgate components.

Thats all I can think of now. Keep up the good work Greystreak.

After having seen two questions in as many days regarding the advantages and disadvantages of the 302 and 351 I suggest you post some comparisons in performance and mileage as well as something like at vote category for the site.

I love my 302 but did my research and went looking for it.
