I have a 1993 F-150 4.9 with dual fuel tanks. The problem is with the front fuel tank. The fuel hand is on empty, even when there is gas in the front tank. When I switch to the rear tank the fuel hand will register correctly. Although the hand is on empty, the truck will run fine on the front tank (It has about 3/4 of gas in the front tank). Does anybody have a clue of what may be causing this problem and if it is an easy fix? Thanks!
My 90 F-150 has the same problem, front tank doesnt register and the back does. I just fill up and use the front first and switch over to the rear after 215 miles. I cant see dropping the tank just to replace a sender. Ill wait till the fuel pump goes.
Do you have to drop the tank? if you get in there you can get to it without dropping the tank, from the pass. side, although i may be able to do this just because i have a smaller muffler further back, but you could always take out the drive shaft and get it from there. i think youd be able to wiggle it out from its hole.
