As some of you may know a few weeks ago i had a broken front spring on my SD,,I Got that replaced and then did the Rough Country 2 " Add A leafs too. Still running the same Stock shocks, for the moment anyway. The install wasnt that bad, 4 hrs by myself start to finish. I think it handles great and I honestly cant tell any difference in the ride at least during normal driving.I have been running the new setup now for about 3 weeks,, i wanted to give it a few weeks before i really formed an opinion. I do live in the country, so most of my travels are on Farm Roads or county roads, which can be sub standard so to speak..I think the leafs took out some of the sway and the lean, but its not harsh at all. After reading for weeks on here about others who have done the add a leafs I expected a Harsh uncomfortable ride, This is not the case at all. Now on dirt and gravel roads or even in the pasture its a firm ride for sure, but a good kinda firm, i actually think it handles off road adventures 500% better than the stock wimpy feeling suspension ever did.I'm thinking that if I didnt have the weight of the Powerstroke up front it might be a bit harsh, but its not harsh at all. Going to take a road trip on the interstate this weekend to the deer lease and fill some feeders, will let ya'll know how it goes for sure..
As I write this, my truck is being fitted with a 4.5" leveling kit, (4) Bilsteins, (4) Weld Cheyenne 8's and (4) ProComp 35x16's. When it went into the shop, it was supposed to get a Donahoe kit but after dropping the front axle and trying to bolt on the kit, they learned that the Uni-mount for the Western plow was right in the way of everything. I had to make the decision to either dump the plow or scrap the Donahoe kit and go with a set of replacement springs instead. Since the plow is what helps to pay for this stuff, I opted to go with the springs but I'm concerned about the ride. Fingers crossed - I will let you know how it works out when I get the truck back.
So far So good anyway,,I did forget to mention i got an Honest 1 3/4-1 7/8" of lift and the squeaks havent started yet, Hopefully my grease job between the leafs will hold up..!!
