I have a surging problem under light throttle. I replaced the plugs and wires rotor probably a year and a half ago. I have cleaned the IAC. I have done serveral searches on this and it appears that surging is a common problem. So last night I pulled the codes on my van and it came back clean code 11. It has never caused the CE light to come on. I also have noticed that the exhaust is a little louder under acceleration. Could this have anything to do with it? It doesn't appear that I have a MAF so that is not it. Any help would be appreciated.
Also thought I would mention that my exhaust has a puff-puff type sound to it. It has actually done this for quite sometime, but though it might be important to know.
Hi,
I had a problem with rough idle and dieing at idle.
The tranny modulator had died and the engine was
sucking tranny fluid up the vacumn hoses. They in
turn were expanding because of the tranny fluid and
were letting in unmetered air into the intake.
4 trips to the dealer and $900 in unneeded repairs,
$200 to replace the modulator and all the vacumn
lines.
An old mechanic found the problem, and I learned
a lesson, its still a 4cycle engine, do the simple checks
first (vacumn check). The car had less than 100k
miles.
wow...i just posted the same problem (surging idle) but didn't even think to mention that all of a sudden I'm using transmission fluid with no apparent leaks...looks like I may have the exact same trans modulator problem...would have never thought of that...thanks a ton and will let everyone know if this works....
