I have been gleaming this site for a couple days looking for pearls on these trucks that I can use at work. One of the most interesting themes is the whole this vs. that. To clarify my point I must say that I am a Diesel fan. If one has the financial ability then it is clear. How ever. I work on a fleet of the Super Duty series every day. They are confiqured every which way you can think. They are all purpose speced for their job. 350 to 550. Standard cabs, super cabs and crew cabs. Short and long 2 and 4 literally every thing. Some days I will take out 10 trucks on test drives. What I have learned "In my own expierence" is that for hauling heavy ( 550 maxed to GVWR) the PSD is dam impressive with the 6 speed. Running down town to pick up parts or lunch then Ill take the V 10 with AT. We do have one F250 which is SC SB AT and V10 but is not fun to drive at all. Its a Lariat. (Boss truck) and it is squirlly. Wont hold a line well, feels soft in the rear, wrong gearing, just not a "good ride". So if I could afford it I would buy 2 trucks. The 04 550 with 6L PSD crew cab 4x MT in Lariat, and the 350 CC LB AT V10 4x lariat. I will have to be extra good this year i guess if I hope to have santa bring me trucks.
Then you could have the best of both worlds. I agree, there is a lot of this vs that on this site, especially when it comes to engines. My take, I respect both engines. I originally was going to order a V-10, but I'm and A-plan member so I chose the diesel. I am completely satisfied with the PSD and sure I made the right choice for me, however I respect the V-10 and think it is a great engine. Now, with the '05 coming out with more horsepower, more valves, I will respect it even more. Gotta love these dang Fords, almost as much as the wife and kid, definitely more than the in-laws.
DEACJRT, Hope I got that right. I finnaly stoped laughing at the inlaw part. If there was anything worth saying amen to here, it was that. Was not trying to reestablish any old arguments here. Just that I know how it is to have a car you drive all the time, get rid of it and find the new car has something that makes you happier. I just happen to be in a position of being able to drive all the cars back to back and think they are all pretty awsome. Heck we have a fleet of FL70 extra cab 4x with cat diesels that if you want tow power will sure get the job done and pretty comfortably too. Bottom line for me is evrything has its place. Just my oppionon though. Worth as much as free dinner at the inlaws.
Uhhhhhhh yeah. We all know that it all hinges on financial ability. After all, who would buy a V10 if they could afford a Diesel?
Actually, I am not ashamed to say, I can afford pretty much anything I want. I chose the V10 because I liked it better than the Diesel. I could care less what someone else drives, why they drive it, or what they think about what I drive.

Woot! Yeah I mean us v10 guys must be poor broke diesel wannabes. NOT! Nothing makes me madder than people thinking we defaulted to the v10. Hello, maybe we didn't want a stinky, noisey, black smoke puffing, glow plug using, expensive as heck to buy and change oil diesel. No offense diesel guys.
Dont mean to fuel a fire here,, but i've had the 5.4V8 - 6.8 v10 and now the powerstroke, and its the truck thats cool, not the motor, My 5.4 V8 with the 5 speed and 4.10's was fun to drive, and so was my V-10. To me the motor is kinda like wheels, you like Welds,i prefer Centerlines, but the truck is the deal. On my 3rd SD now and everytime i park it i still look back as i walk away and think oh yeaaahh.

Yeah! me too. My co-workers think it's ridiculous that I have a picture of my truck in my office. Thoses things are great looking trucks!
I had enough food stamps to buy a 6.0L but I grabbed the 5.4L instead. There was one reg cab with a 5.4L/6-speed and one with a 6.0L/6-speed available. It was the correct choice for lots of short trips/long idling time, hauling/no towing, low-maintenance, easy starting and easy to find fuel in the area. Nothing to do with price though.
