if I was told correctly the aerostar had three motor choices over the years.
the 3.0, 3.8 and 4.0L. mine is the 3.0L. I am looking for any information on the possibility of other aerostar motor parts being interchangable? looking to up the performance on my van.
(not looking to do mojor stuff but even 20 more HP would be wonderful.) does anyone know if any of the other motor parts are bigger, better,etc... intake tubes, throttle body, intakes, exhaust, etc..?? my other car is a V8 mustang and is has been very easy to find and install "bolt-on" type parts.
just read any mustang magazine and you have tons of options. I feel that I have the mechanical skills to do the same stuff to my van but I need help with what and where to find stuff for the 3.0L. thanks
I believe that the engine options were: 2.3 I4, 2.9 V6, 3.0 V6, and 4.0 V6. The 3.0 is nothing like any of the others. However you can get parts from a 3.0 ranger that will give you more hp. Supposedly you can take the intake plenum that has a removable throttle body from a ranger and install the throttle body off a mustang on to it. Then it will bolt right up to you engine. I have heard also that honda civic intake tubes will work.
You might want to try doing some searching on http://www.tauruscarclub.com/ They have the same 3.0L vulcan that you do and some of them have done some wild mods. Or you can transplant a 3.0L/3.2L SHO motor in there for the most bang for your buck.
