Question Will 2005 brake controller work w/ elec/hyd actuator?

Looking to upgrade my '00 PSD for a new 2005 F350 and would like to get the new brake controller if it will work. I have Dexter disc brakes on the trailer I pull and it uses an electric/hydraulic actuator which will not work with the Predator brake controller due to the self diagnostics the Predator uses. Does anyone know if the 2005 Ford brake controller is based on a Predator type system or not?
I contacted Dexter Axle regarding this but the engineer did not know at the time if it would work since they had not had a chance to test the new Ford controller.

I have read the new owners manual for the 2005 Super Duty. The factory option TBC will not work with surge or electric-over-hydraulic braking systems. Only one to four axle electric brakes will work.

Thats the way it works on an upper end 5th wheel trailer I have. The pump sits in the front storage area. The disc brakes work great, don't think I will go back to drum brakes on a trailer over 10,000 lbs.

yea, i have heard wonders about teh disk brakes. dont they make disks that are just electrically actuated like the drums?

as for helping your question, if a regular brake controler can control that, i imagine that the ford one would be able to. the prodigy you refer to is one of the most high tech ones on the market. i am sure fords will just be like a 50 dollar standard 4 brake controler. I also imagine your electric over hydraulic just uses the brake power as a signal to a relay, then pulls off the 10 gauge black wire (#4, usually 30 amp) for the pump. Just a guess, as i have never worked on one. I also imagine there is a battery on the trailer, with a breakaway, to keep current up during heavy braking and to actuate the brakes in case of trailer loss?

I only know about the Dexter disc brake system which is electric over hydraulic, but have not seen a disc brake system that was only electric. The trailer does have 2 -12v batteries which could provide current when needed.

Exactly, in a simple view it is an electric hydraulic pump that uses the brake signal to run the pump. The units however are really nice to pull, especially on heavy trailers. Gets one away from the hydraulic surge brakes that are typically found on them.

take a look here for one example.
