7.3 Headers????

I have a 89 E350 with a NA 7.3 Diesel. I'm going to try turning up the pump this weekend, to gain some power. I have a 19 ft travel trailer, and my van seems to lack power pulling this. My van use to be a ambulance, so I think it was tuned for economy rather than power.
At the moment, I have dual 2 1/2 " exhaust from each stock manifold, with no mufflers, and it's loud . I am going to have dual 3" exhaust put on, with some form of muffler. But I'm concerned with the stock manifolds, will I really see any gain? Or should I try to find some headers? I haven't had much luck, in finding any so far.

I think the stock manifolds flow alright. Headers might give you a few extra ponies, but I'd stay away from them unless you think you'll never get a turbo. If you are already muffler-less I doubt you'll get any more power going to dual 3". I'd get the shop to put a nice Y on your existing pipes and make it a 3" single system. Then find a 3" resonator to use for a muffler and it should sound good without earmuffs.

stans headers makes a set for around $600.00,last time i checked.
spectramac has a good point thuogh,if your going to turbo the beast i'd stay away from them,or your just wasteing your money.
i got pretty good gains by just putting the banks y-pipe and a 3 inch exhaust on the old girl.
