Hey everybody,
I need some help here. I want to put 35's on my 2001 Ranger edge. I've heard from alot and seen alot of people with 35's on their rangers with anywhere from 3 - 4 inches of lift. I would like to put on a 4 inch superlift with 35's of some sort. I could really use some input on this situation. Thanks
I have never lifted my Rangers but on my 01 edge 2x4 I had 31x10.5x15 on it. No rubbing anywhere so with a 4 inch lift I think you could have 35's. I don't know about going any wider though.
Generally, the Ranger's with 35's have a 4" suspension lift and 3" body lift. You might be able to clear 35's with a suspension lift and fender trimming, but you'll most likely need a body lift too.
I have a 01 Edge, 2wd, 4.0 sohc, 3:55 gears, 5 speed. I have the stock 15" 235 tires. It seems that a slow speed in 2nd gear like when you are turning into a street that there is not a lot of torque available. I have thought that larger diameter tires would just make this more noticable. I have no complaints about the power of this engine. It is just that slow speed in 2nd gear that makes me wonder about larger tires.
You will need the 5" suspension lift (fab tech has a kit, not sure who else makes them) and then a 3" body lift. Depending on what width of tire you are going to you might also need to do a little trimming on the corners of your spoiler as well as the inner fender liner area. Do your homework on the lift kits though, one of the fab-tech suspension lifts has some issues with spitting out the ball joints(I know it does on the kit for 2x's not totaly sure about this on the lift for 4x's), ask around before you just buy a kit.
