6 speed help
does anyone know what to do or how to fix that sluggish takeoff ? Its a 03 with 3.73 gears. Ford has been no help. Ive got to come up with something cant afford to trade. Slipping that clutch is getting old !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hummm, don't know. I had an 00' and an 02' 7.3 psd with the 6 speed and they were both like that. It seemd like it took a couple of seconds before the truck came alive. You didn't want to pull out infront of something coming down the road. I don't know if it was do to turbo boost or what. I would venture to say that this is what i was experiencing. I thought it was just the engine/tranny setup. I didn't know that the new "6.0" had this also... Guessing that is what motor is in your beast.
That is why i went with the Torque Shift Tranny, it is a really good tranny so far. I am sure that someone will stop in and reply that can offer better assistance than me.

Have you tried starting out without touching the gas pedal? It doesn't help much with the slow starts, but you don't have to slip the clutch. Try it, you probably don't believe me but its pretty hard to stall it starting out if you don't touch the throttle till shes moving. let me know what happens

Yes the truck is pretty hard to stall. I have a 6 speed in my 550. The truck weighs 17,5 and I start off in 2nd. My technique is just before I'm ready to go I give the throttle a tap up to 1500 or so and on it's way down at about a grand I let out the clutch and stab the throttle. By the time you've got the clutch fully disengaged the r's are back around 700 or so and off you go. Yeah it's a little slow in my rig but my weight is more than double any other truck rolling around. What do you consider sluggish?? Did you train with Michael Schumacher??
