Towing

I tow a 2004 baja 29outlaw with twin 496mags on a triple axel trailer. dry with trailer weighs out at 8500lbs. Gear and fuel I am sure iam at that #. Mine does just fine but you know its back there it is adequet. How it is balanced and tonge weight are key factors also, mine is perfect. My trailer has has disc brakes at 4 of the 6 wheels also. Lariat 4x2 3.73LS 5.4 Screw heavy tow pkg. Also have full steel shank (not hollow) reciever and heavy duty 2 5\16 ball rated for 10,000 lbs for that kind of weight. When the titan hitch becomes available for F150 will probably get that also. Might even get the 2005 F250 with the new V10 now that I think about it.

what is the titan hitch and do you think the solid shank makes a diff on towing or is it just safer for heavy weights?

the titan hitch is much more heavy duty, and the solid steel shank reciver and heavy duty ball is just much smarter and safer than a hollow reciever. If you are towing that kind of load you MUST go with at least the heavy duty reciver and ball. This is fact you can have a serious failuer in this area. I use a putman reciver
