On my way to the 4th of July weekend I blew out my left front tire. I have Super Swamper TSL Radials 265/80/R16. I honestly am getting fed up with these tires I have had lugs tear off two of them and had two blow outs in about 3 years on my sets. My problem now is that my tires on the back are still in very good shape while my left front is blown and my right front is down but not quite out. I want to eventually have 4 better tires (how are the Thornbirds? I do some Wheeling but more highway by far so would like to find an aggressive look and pattern while still being good for highway primarily and occasional intermediate wheeling). Right now money is tight so I have a few questions. Should I just replace the one thats blown with the same type of tire (leaving me with 3 great treads and one down but still decent enough) and hope I can get money saved up to replace all four. Or should I perhaps consider beginning my switch-over by replacing the fronts with a new type or brand of tire (Im not sure what mixing or matching would do). I know I just said alot and probably was confusing but if you read this and have any ideas or suggestions let me know as I have no Tire knowledge really whatsoever.

 

I would just get two new tires of the exact same you have on there now and rotate them with the ones you have in the back. to answer your question about the thornbirds you should look into this thread, maybe you'll reconsider the thornbirds.
