looking for a 1980 - 1986 truck bed/box...

Hi all

I wasn't sure where to post this but since i would like to locate a truck box in Ontario i figured this would be a good place to post about it!

I've given up trying to repair the box on my 1983 truck. It's pretty much soft everywhere.

Also...would anyone have a good source for *affordable* brake parts (truck needs everything)

Thanks...scott

Have you tried your local wrecking yards? I know here in Sarnia one would run around $500-700 or so. As far as brake parts: what are you looking for? most parts you should be able to buy at any parts store. Not too many of them I would want to take off of a used vehicle IMHO. Good luck!

Hi Matt

I've tried all the local guys - most of them laughed when i told them what i was after - the ones that didn't laugh wanted to sell me one for $1200.

I've checked around for brake parts - i need everything except the master cylinder and brake booster (and i may still need those too).

I guess i'm starting to realize that my truck is much older than i had thought!

Yeah, a half decent box that old in good shape is gonna be expensive.

For your brake parts: go to your local Canadian Tire or whatever and you can buy steel brake lines (but you have to bend them yourself), new flex hoses, new calipers (probably with a trade-in), new pads and shoes, new wheel cylinders, new drums and rotors and whatever else you need. Be prepared to spend at LEAST $200 just in parts but probably closer to $300-$400 depending on exactly what you need.

P.S. Don't forget your Dot3 brake fluid!

Brake parts - I would agree with going to Canadian Tire.

Box wise, have you tried the southern truck parts place in Lindsay?

Hope this helps.

In sudbury there is a place which all they do it gets truck parts from Southern U.S. They have a lot of boxs, gas tanks, and a few tanks. The box are like brand new ranging from 800 to 1500 and there is no rusty on them. Some come with bed linners, or rhino.

For a bed, if you don't mind the fact that the wheel lip will be a bit different, an 87-96 bed will work just fine. Will have to switch to the later tailgate too.

Thanks guys. I called the fellow in Lindsay - they've got them for 800 - 950 rust AND dent free. Thanks 82F100SWB for the tip about using a newer box - i wondered what the difference was between the two models...

Go to the top right hand corner and click "CLASSIFIEDS". You have to sign up for it (you can use your same name) then post it there. Good luck!

If you have it, Car Quest may be cheaper. I have bought parts for my 85 F150 from CT, and CQ, and CQ is usually cheaper
