Super Duty Side Step Bars
Ford has two types in their accessories list. They have the right look and I'm sure they fit fine but they are a little pricey.
I bought some 3" diameter stainless ones with a pressed section where the plastic step pad goes. That supposedly makes them stronger. However they had some problems. Two screws holding the plastic step pad on were tightened down too much pulling them into the plastic. I can't get them out. No biggie. But it came with two passenger side front brackets so I can only mount one side for now. Then...the terrible installation photos didn't help me determine much. I can tell what they intend me to do sort of...but the holes in the brackets simply are way off the factory holes in the rocker panel. The rear brackets have some kind of bracket with two bolts welded to it and they simply can't be installed w/o drilling. The instructions says no drilling required...so I'm ain't drilling nothing. I didn't want to anyway which is why I bought these from the local truck place. They are going back.
Who makes some sturdy ones that actually work? The lower they ride...the better. I actually like the Ford oval steps but they are $450 which is kinda steep. True running boards are out of the question for me. Thanks for any input.
