I have two fuel tanks. Front tank hasnt worked in over a year. Runs, but whines and truck hardly would idle. Never seemed to have the drive to fix it when I did have time. So anyway....
Tonight I was driving to work and it would appear my rear sending unit is off, I ran out of gas at a 1/4 tank. The guage has been irrratic over the last month or so. Anyway.....It seems I ran outta gas. But have a full front tank. So I switched, started the truck, and managed to chug, and violently for a few yards till an incline. I chugged down the barely noticable hill. I chugged a little faster. I go to an intersection, stopped. Chugged at idle. Went to get accross the intersection into my parking lot, and the truck took off. I got into my spot, and took the engine to 3k rpms over and over. Hardly any whinning from the pump, and plenty of fuel supplied to the engine. Seems now that it works fine. Guess we'll see for sure in the morning.
Anybody heard of this before now? I'm kinda thrown back.
Sounds like it could have had some build up in it and it is working itelf loose. If it stays working, I would replace the fuel filter in about a week, that's where it will end up.
If it acts up again, replace the pump, eventially it will die all together.
I ran my truck at idle for a couple hours and it ran great, jumoed in went to the store, ran great the whole time. This evening.....still better than earlier.....but chuggin again. I hate to spent almost $200 on a fuel pump. Guess there's no choice again.
