After putting 10,000 miles on my 04' screw lariat 4x4 I have to say that the overall experience has been a disappointment. I think that the truck lacks power and has an overall ride/feel that i can't get use to. This is my 6th new ford, with my son still driving my 03 screw 4x4 fx4 lariat, "boy I wish i could have my 03' back". I find that the truck lacks towing ability, having to downshift manually to handle a hill pulling a 24' bayboat. Never had that problem in the 03. I can't believe that ford put this truck on the market with such a pig of an engine. I have also had major front axle bearing problems that took the dealer 4 weeks and 6 trips back and forth to finally find the problem. and many more annoying problems, eg: ac not coolong ( still not fixed, dealer says can't be made to cool any better) vibration in engine/trans ( still not fixed), suspension rebounce after hitting bumps ), Has anyone put a performance chip in that made a difference, please let me know> THANKS!!!
What motor was in your 03??? I have several buddies with different variations 2003 Ford trucks and Expeditions and ALL of them are impressed with the power of my 5.4 3v truck. Maybe you should let the dealer take a look at yours to make sure it is doing what it's supposed too....
my 03. has the biggest v-8 that ford offered. I think its a 5.3 or 5.4 triton. Same as the 04. My brother has an 04 fx4 screw with the big motor, same sorry performance. I have had it at the dealer, they have checked it out on the comp, says everything is "normal", I have all the comp updates. Guess i'm too picky. All I know is don't pull out in front of someone hauling --- or you'll be in trouble if you need get-up-n-go.
My friend, I can sit down with ya and cry about our trucks over a beer but the fact is, I want my 02 SCrew back as it was twice as good a truck as this soccer mom 04 F-150 POS. My new one won't even get close to doing the same job as the old one. And I know about the A/C, where I live people die from the heat. I am having to keep a gallon of water in my new truck in case this thing gets worse. I haven't had to do that since my 1967 3/4 ton Chevy. And add the surging brakes, distorted windshield, sticking emergency brake, the vibration, whining rear end, grinding transmission, and it's all "normal". And remember, it's a better joke......er, uh.......idea by Ford.
I hear ya loud and clear flash, I guess i'll be looking at the chevy diesel as my next experiment. I have had ford diesel in the past, I'm just really ****ed off at Ford right now and the thought of giving them my money again makes me sick. Yea I know they all break, but I am sure of one thing, I'll never buy anything the first year it comes out again. LESSON WELL LEARNED!!!!!!!!!!
Good LUck with yours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
