a/c not working
I have a 1999 Ford Explorer 2WD (38,000 miles). The air condiotioning has suddenly stopped working. The fan is blowing, but the air is hot. I have checked the fuses and relays, but they are fine. The relay does not turn on when I turn the A/C on... any idea of what it could be ? Thanks for your help.

Does the A/C compressor engage at all when you put the AC on?? Also, is the engine running at its normal operating temperature?? If the compressor is kicking in and out quickly, then most likely it is low on freon. If the engine temp is running high, then the AC may not kick in.

ford charged me 135 $ to replace the relay on top of the ac compressor''''''''''''''lol...20$ part at ford the one with the 2 wires .......i was going to replace it my self but i thought the warranty would cover it...oh well try that

My 96 did the same thing. Check the low preasure cut off switch. It should be located on the low end of the AC. Place a jumper to short the circuit. The switch has a valve inside so when you unscrew it to replace it, your coolent don't leak out.
Then again, Mine is a 96. I don't know how different the 99's are.
