I have a 1982 E100 shortie that I am in the process of chopping and lowering. I have the 300 6, which I know is very lousy on fuel economy( I get about 8-10 mpg, depending on the season), and I want to keep the engine, just beef it up. Anyone know where I can find performance parts for this engine? Or even a crate performance engine I can buy? I don't want to go with a V8 because it seems everyone has one. When finished, the rear doors will be gone, and a hydraulic ram will lift a fiberglass copy of the rear. The front doors will be gull winged, and the side dual door will come down to make a ramp. I am also planning on going with Foose rims, Dunlop GT Qualifiers, and ABS braking from a 2000 F350 (I know, it's overkill on the brakes). The rest of the disign of my project is still in the works, and is subject to change if I can't find the parts for my drivetrain. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
I've even have vague memories of an Australian Crossflow head, that and a couple turbos would seem nice if you don't have smogcheck/inspection worries.
Sounds like a very expensive project, I would guess 40-50 thousand easy to do right. Your money, your time, your call.
