Goodbye Transmission...?
The other night when leaving work, as I pulled out I felt the usual "shimmey" that has been happening for a while, but then all of a sudden there was a snapping/giant thud, noise and then it was as if the truck was in neutral. I managed to coast off the road and looked underneath, everything is intact, and its not the pinion gear because the driveshaft is not turning while in gear. Reverse still works. So I'm almost positive its the tranny, but what exactly is it?? I was thinking possibly something to do with the 1st gear snapping, or perhaps the torque converter?? Need some advice/help here. Thanks guys! (Transmission is E40D)
