2005 Towing Guide???
Thanks,
Mark
Here goes for the truck you listed:
(Pounds)
Base Curb: 6495
GVWR: 11400
Max Payload: 4100
GCWR: 23000
Maximum Trailer/Hitch Ratings:
Max. Tounge weight (Conventional or weight dist.): 500
Conventional Towing: 5000
Conv. Weight dist: 12,500
5th wheel/ gooseneck: 17000
From the above, you should be able to do a little math for getting real close to what you are looking for based on your 5th wheel.
Looks like you could drop about 3400 of pin in the bed and have 700 left for fuel, passengers and gear. (3400 is 20% of 17000 which is a guess as far as actual pin weight is concerned.) But I'd expect you would have all you wanted and then some on a SRW with 3400 pin weight.
Note: They say the SRW 350 tires will be LT275-70R18-E on the 4x4. I expect the low tire profile will help lateral stability when towing a heavy load quite a bit.
Ford has increased their tow ratings. According to a "salesman" they are getting more liberal with their ratings to better represent themselves against the competition. (Never trust a salesman!) On the other hand, Ford says clearly in in their literature that they they are putting in an "upgraded" solid rear axle. What that means is anybody's guess.
Maybe I gave you something you did not already have, Maybe not???
