I have a 97 explorer the charging system is charging good and the battery is fine when I do a load test. If I drive it around to the store and things like that it will start fine but if I leave it over night the battery is dead in the morning ( not totally dead but it won't start) I have checked to see if anything was left on and everything is off. I know if you take the negitive cable off and hock up a test light from the cable to the battery post the light should not light mine does could it be the voltage regulator. If someone has any tips on anything else it would very appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Sounds like you could have a bad realy somewhere. Explorers are notorious for their fuel pump relays going south and doing exactly what you described. It happened to me and I went thru 2 batteries before I figured it out. Listen for something running after you shut the truck off and try to determine where it's coming from. You'll have to do some detective work but I was glad I did it. It only cost me $7 for the relay versus $60 an hour plus the relay at Ford. Good luck...

I did some checks today add the relays are good. Today it started no problem in the morning when I took my son to school when I got home it was shut off for an hour then I went to go to the store and it wouldn't start. any sudjestions would help........
Try hooking up the test light like you did before. While you have the light hooked up (and it's lit) start pulling, one at a time, fuses out of the power distribution box and fuse box. When you pull the fuse that goes to the circuit that's causing your drain, the light will go out.
