Was anyone else disappointed with the pictures from the Saturn satellite? I couldn't make out much of anything in them and there was no color so on the black background of space it's hard to see what's going on. I was all excited about this prospect . . . hmm. My woman said they look like those paint booths at the fair that spin your paper while you squirt paint in there.
They'll more than likely be on TV a lot. He's right though...I was disappointed with the pictures too. The Hubble can take better pictures of objects a billion light years off. I saw the pics last nite on Fox News.
Torque, try this link off MSNBC. I can't get the pics to appear here on FTE but you'll see a couple links for slideshows. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5351793/
I guess the probe is collecting all kinds of other data too but I was just surprised at how poor the pictures were. This morning on CNN they were showing the image expert for this project and she was all choked up as she talked about how wonderful it was to have finally accomplished this. I would have been all choked up that after 7 years and 30 billion dollars they can't get anything better than bad looking pictures with radio interference. STILL, I think it's awesome that we have a probe orbiting Saturn. The science and planning, to send something millions and millions of miles like that and have it be in the right place at the right time just amazes me. It's unbelievable that these signals can be sent all the way back to earth at all.
