I recently picked up some of those sweet looking valve covers with the "POWER BY FORD" stamped on them for my 352 that I am still putting back together. They were in a 70' that may have been a 390 but I am not sure. Anyway, when I went to put them on they would not fit down to the head because the baffle on the inside of the cover hit on the baffle plate that sits under the rocker arms. The plate that I have is the one with the "points", towards the inside! I guess I'll have to go back and see if I can scrounge up the baffle plates that were with the 70' valve covers! I really don't want to put the after markets that were on it back. What's the deal, when was what used as far as valve cover baffle design and rocker baffle plates? Speak oh mighty FE Geru's

Reason: spelling
how high do your baffle plates come up?? the only ones ive seen dont come up any higher then the valve springs. The valve covers you are talking about are factory jobs and should fit without any problems
Yeah right, that's what the guy who owns the junkyard said too. He also sold me a harmonic balance that wasn't quite right. It seems that I am running into the old car maker trick of changing things around in the middle of a production year. I guess I could cut them but that is not what this resto is about. If I needed the truck for work in the morning that would be one thing. It's not that the baffle plates come up too far but that the valve cover baffle comes down too far in the wrong place. My plan is to go back to the engine where they came from and get the baffle plate that goes with them. That means taking the rockers back off but I quess I need the practice! Just was wondering if any one had run into this problem before!
Can't imagine they don't fit, are they definitely for an FE motor? i'll have to give this a try since I have about 2 pairs of the powered by Ford covers and see if they drop on the 352. Gives me something to do tonight (since parts are still at the machine shop)
my powered by ford valve covers fit like a glove, i've heard some people say they have had baffle probs, thats why i suggested to remove the part of the baffle thats hitting. they did and haven't had a prob. as egoman said they don't do a thing !
